Total carbon dioxide emissions in the US has doubled from 1976-2005. in 2005   2,303.4 million metric tons of co2 are emitted each year by the residential and commercial sectors in the US.  Wow, what a staggering number. I have converted that number to pounds and here it is.

Though accounting for only 5 percent of the world's population, Americans consume 26 percent of the world's energy. (American Almanac)

Replacing one incandescent light bulb with an energy-saving compact fluorescent bulb means 1,000 pounds less carbon dioxide is emitted to the atmosphere and $67 dollars is saved on energy costs over the bulb's lifetime. (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Alliance to Save Energy)
Building an energy efficient building saves you money. In the process of saving you money, it has far reaching affects on environment as well. Here are a few facts about how your energy consumption as it relates to the environment. Buildings in the US account for 40% of the countries annual energy consumption. In 2001 the total costs of energy consumed by the residential sector was $160,000,000,000  and emitted 1,212 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
The average households energy costs have risen 23% from 2001-2005. each person produces approximately 9,000 pounds of carbon dioxide in there home each year.
Environmental- This is the only planet we have to live on. If we don't start taking care of it,                           it will not continue to take care of us. Energy efficiency reduces our need                            for pollution creating energy.  Renewable energy does not contribute to                              environmental pollution. These two work well together to create a home                             that, truly reduces our carbon footprint.

Economics-  The future of energy is very clear, as least to me. I do not see the cost of                           energy going down. Do You?  My personal energy bills have nearly double in                     the last 3 years. The government statistics do not indicate this, but I feel it                        when I fuel up my truck, or put oil in my homes fuel tank, pay the electric or                      gas bill. The current cost for heating oil, in Middleboro Ma is $3.12 per                               gallon. With a minimum delivery of 150 gals. That is $468, minimum. How                         can people living on a fixed living continue to afford the rising cost of energy?
The answer is Zero Energy Homes.

Social-         "We as a society cannot afford to linger in stagnation."
As demand for energy rises throughout the world, the cost will inherently                           increase. The supply of natural resources will be depleted at an ever                                  increasing rate. As this happens there will become an ever widening gap,                          between the have's and the have not's of the world.

"People must take hold of there own energy future, or it will bury us in it's wake."

Secure you future with a zero-energy home.
This is especially important for people preparing for retirement. As you face a future with a fixed income, the rising cost of energy is a scary prospect. As I have personally seen in recent years, with many of the elderly people I know, living on a fixed income, having to make tough choices. Weather to heat their home or buy their medicine or food this month. This is not the American Dream we have come to know and love, but rather sad circumstances, which many seniors face.  This future can be avoided, at least as far as your home is concerned.  With a zero-energy home you will be secure in knowing that no matter what happens to the cost of energy, you will be able to provide your family with the basic necessities needed to live in your home.
